The Rockin “R” Ranch is located on the rocky western slopes of the northern Ukiah Valley in Mendocino. These benchland slopes drain to Ackermann Creek which flows into the Russian River watershed at Lake Mendocino outside of Ukiah. The eastern exposure of the vines provides plenty of warm morning sunlight to quell the often cool nights. The climbing mountains to the immediate west provide a base for easterly winds to flow across the ranch each afternoon. These winds can be brisk at times, serving to cool the vineyard from the hot Ukiah Valley afternoons.
