Zinfandel

Zinfandel had long been considered America's great wine grape. Recently, however, it has been discovered that Italy's Primitivo is the same varitey, and it's origin has been traced to Croatia where it is identical to Crljenak Kaštelanski. Despite not being exclusively American, Zinfandel is still the most American of wine grapes. It produces a full-bodied, jammy wine which often has very high alcohol content. Areas of Sonoma County such as the Russian River Valley and the Dry Creek Valley seem to do particularly well with the grape. The Zinfandel produced at Old World Winery is no exception; it's true California Zin at its finest.
