Petite Sirah (Durif)

Petite Sirah, also known as Durif, is genetically a cross between Syrah and Peloursin. The grape is now almost non-existent in France, but is widely grown in California and Australia. It produces a very dark, jammy wine reminiscent of some Zinfandels. In fact, it is commonly blended with Zinfandel in California and we do just that at Old World Winery. While the wine it produces on its own can be a great BBQ wine, in our experience the grape shines the most in blends.
